 Recording Content:

The beginning of this recording shows footage of the Great Choral Synagogue in Kyiv. The team arranges and sets up a formal interview with Motl Isaakovich Derbaremdiker. He talks about a film production about Yiddish culture, then he talks about the arrival of Rabbi Yaakov Bleich when Debaremdiker worked as the director of a Chemistry institute at a scientific research institute. He also talks about a Jewish school in Kyiv.

The conversation turns to the history of the Great Choral Synagogue and the Sunday school, which Derbaremdiker set up. He discusses material he teaches in the classroom, before he briefly talks about his religious school education and Yiddish cultural activity today. The conversation then turns to life and Yiddish teaching today. Then they exchange contact information. Derbaremdiker shows a copy of his birth certificate, written in Hebrew and Yiddish and briefly talks about his life before he left Berdychiv. He was 16 years old when his family moved to Kyiv.

The team then meets for an informal chat with Yokhanam Reyzn, before the camera collects more footage of the synagogue. The final part of the tape shows outside footage of the synagogue, including a photograph salesman. The team drives to the airport to meet another team member, Dovid Katz.
